We had a spotless apartment, and the ladies at reception were incredibly friendly. It had two bedrooms, each with a separate toilet and shower, and a south-facing view of the Kitzbühel Horn and Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm, with even a glimpse of the Wilder Kaiser range. The furnishings were high quality, and the village between Kitzbühel and St. Johann was charming. We used the basement sauna nearly every day after skiing or a winter walk. There are several ski areas close by: Oberndorf, St. Johann, Steinplatte, Wilder Kaiser, and Kitzbühel, so there’s a good choice. Oberndorf has a train station, and the guest card lets you travel free to nearby towns or the Hahnenkamm. If the trains line up, you can get from Hamburg to the neighboring village with just one change. We’ve had different experiences elsewhere, so the cleanliness here stood out. We’ll be back in summer to cycle and hike in the Wilder Kaiser.

Oberndorf still feels like a quiet, charming place that hasn’t been discovered by everyone yet. The accommodation combines a luxurious stay with a handy location. The new swimming pool, with large and small pools and a Wilder Kaiser view, is only 50 meters away, and the guest card is worth remembering. Café Liebe-voll is also just a 50-meter walk for breakfast. We had a one-bedroom apartment with a big garden and terrace, lovely for breakfast or sunbathing, and the kids enjoyed it too. It’s a modern, practical house, and there’s a bike path right outside. Black Sheep is an easy walk in the village and my top restaurant recommendation. Within a week you can play at three golf courses, then spend the evening in Kitzbühel or St. Johann. In winter we tried Kitzski, using the lift at Klausen/Kirchberg, about a 12-minute drive, and skied via Fieberbrunn to Saalbach Hinterglemm, around 20 minutes away.

We had a great time riding our bikes around the beautiful area. The apartment was new, luxurious, and very clean, with convenient parking and wonderful wellness facilities. Our bikes were secure in the ski and bike room, where we could charge them. There are tasty restaurants nearby.

You can get around easily from here. Hiking, cycling, and cross-country ski trails begin right at the door, and an e-bike makes it easy to ride to Kitzbühel, Going/Ellmau, and farther into the region. The Oberndorf station and MPreis supermarket are both a 10-minute walk away. A ski bus for St. Johann is three minutes on foot, while Kitzbühel/Kirchberg and Going/Ellmau are 10-15 minutes by car. A playground, outdoor pool, and tennis courts are close by, and there are several nice restaurants within walking distance. The location is peaceful but still close to tourist facilities, and the free bus or train to St. Johann or Kitzbühel is handy with the guest card. The views of both the Wilde Kaiser and Kitzbühler Horn are amazing, especially from the penthouse. It’s a luxurious place that feels good value for money.
