Hotel Laaxerhof

Getting to the lifts was quick and easy since they’re so close. But I didn’t feel comfortable leaving our gear in the ski room. My skis were moved one night, then tossed on the floor another time. My partner’s snowboard was moved to a careless spot, and some helmets had been thrown in the bin. We told the hotel, but nothing much was done. After that, it was hard to trust that anyone’s equipment was safe there. When you travel with expensive gear, you expect it to be stored securely and treated with more care.

We’ve stayed here before and will be back. The rooms were large, clean, and had everything we needed, and the location is amazing. The hotel and staff were exceptional and always ready to help. For the cost, we couldn’t be happier with the booking. I’d seen complaints about a short walk to breakfast from one part of the hotel. It was clearly explained to us, and it’s literally two minutes, which seems fine on an active ski holiday. A partner hotel also delivered pizza from its restaurant, which we hadn’t expected but really appreciated. The manager or owners, sorry guys, gave the place a personal touch. Steve and Nadja, I think I spelled that right. Can’t wait to return.

I travel to hotels for work every month, so I’ve got plenty of experience, and this was one of the greediest places I’ve stayed. It wasn’t particularly cheap, yet they seemed to want extra money even for a cup of coffee when we were paying 200€ a night. These are the reasons I’d rate it one star. The room had a little coffee machine that didn’t work properly, and we were given only two coffee caps for the whole stay, even though we were there for three or four days. The cleaning lady didn’t clean the cup or leave new caps. We didn’t want to waste time walking to the other building for breakfast each morning, so we asked reception for at least one cap per day. She said the two caps were for the whole stay and we’d have to pay for more. That’s ridiculous. There are two buildings, but the description doesn’t explain this properly. The only mention before booking is a note asking groups to let them know because there are two buildings. We had no car, so getting between them meant walking four minutes with our suitcases on an icy road. For breakfast, we had to go outside in winter clothes, then walk back up to collect our ski gear. That’s not what we expected for a quick breakfast before skiing. They advertise breakfast at 20€ on booking, then say by email that it costs 25€. And if you book through booking and aren’t happy with your stay, they’ll make it look as if it was “cancelled” so you can’t leave a review. It happened to us and apparently other customers too. We reported them to booking.

We were in the Upper house, about 100m past the U turn. The room’s view was very nice, and the rooms and bathrooms were fine, with normal-sized apartment bedrooms and a TV in each. There’s parking beside the house and an electric car charger. Staff were helpful, and there’s a sauna and an infra sauna. The kitchenette is tiny but has what you’d need for a few days, including a microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, and kitchenware. There’s only one Spar in town, 2km away, and by evening it can be out of basics like eggs and miced meat. We had a snowy day with ~5-10 cm snowfall. Since the house is on a hill, cars couldn’t get up without snowchains. We were lazy and left the car in the Parking2, which was fine for the night. By morning, the roads had been cleared.
