Pension Villa Agnes

The hosts were nice, and the rooms were comfortable and very nice. Breakfast was good too.

A beautiful place to stay, with mountain views. It's peaceful and has an old-fashioned feel, and breakfast was really good.

The central location was a real plus, and when we arrived early, we were welcomed warmly. The owner said we could check in in about an hour and suggested a restaurant where we could have a tasty lunch while waiting. The arrival itself was confusing: it seemed no one knew we were coming. The cleaning lady greeted us but had no information, then the owner's son asked what we wanted. A few minutes later we were let into the house to speak with the owner. Our room felt worn. The two single beds pushed together were uncomfortable and squeaked loudly whenever we turned over. My boyfriend is 1.90 m tall and couldn't stretch out. The bathroom was small, which was fine, but the shower felt cramped even for me at 1.63 m and slim. Power cords were visible from the ceiling light. The balconies weren't divided, so you could walk across to a neighbor's balcony and even climb in if their door was open. There was little privacy. Parking was a problem too. The owner kindly cleared the carport for us, but new guests took the space the next day. One night we had to park in a no-parking zone because we couldn't find another spot. Our room was above the owner's garden, where the dog barked for several nights until well after 11 p.m. because he didn't want to be outside. Breakfast was meant to start at 8 a.m., but they only began preparing it then, so we couldn't eat until 8:30, 8:45, or even 9. The house also felt somewhat deliberate and incompetent. The Christmas decorations in July, including in the breakfast room and cushions in our room, were especially confusing. The worst issues came later. After cleaning one day, staff forgot to lock our room, and we don't know how long it was left open. When my boyfriend asked the owner about it, she essentially told us we were on vacation and should relax. It was hard to relax knowing the room had been left open with all our belongings inside. On another evening, we heard the owner arguing with newly arrived guests until late. We don't know what it was about, but they were shouting and the guests left right away. Seeing that made us very uncomfortable, and the mood stayed subdued for the rest of our stay. We wouldn't choose Villa Agnes for another vacation. Everything seemed rather worn out. I'd spend a little more and look for somewhere else.

The village location made everything easy to reach, from hiking trails and bike paths to the cable car. There was plenty of parking, dogs were welcome, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. The rooms are lovely if you like old farmhouses. I felt incredibly comfortable and welcome at Villa Agnes throughout my hiking and adventure holiday in beautiful Oetz, from the first day to the last, thanks to the exceptionally warm, friendly hosts. I'll definitely return!
