Terrassen Camping Ossiacher See

Our tent pitch got muddy in the rain, though they kept working on it and restoring it. The lake views are gorgeous, and there’s a supermarket and restaurant right at the campsite. Staff were really nice. It stayed pretty loud until 11 pm, with kids running around.

The sanitary blocks were plentiful and very clean, though they felt dated. We had a 9.3 m motorhome and could just squeeze onto our pitch. Leaving meant reversing the whole way out because the sharp turn at the end of each terrace really suits smaller vehicles. We noticed a couple of smaller motorhomes and caravans having trouble with that too. There were pitches with easier access, but the views weren’t as good. Most pitches look out over Ossiacher See, which is lovely. Power was only 6A, and there weren’t many places to fill up with water or empty grey waste. The shop and restaurant were very good, and reception staff were friendly and spoke good English. WiFi at our pitch was hopeless. It worked closer to reception, but was slow there too, so I used my own 4G.

There’s plenty around the site to keep kids busy, if they know Austrian, German, or English, and the lake is lovely for swimming or playing. The shop is small but well kept, and there’s a restaurant too. Most pitches have a lake view, and the grounds are nicely maintained. The children’s bathroom was a lovely touch. It’s also a great area for cycling and hiking.

We hadn’t gone camping as a family in a long time, and we really enjoyed it. Even with lots of other campers, the site was quiet and very well looked after. The restaurant surprised us with how good the food and service were. Their Gulash soup was excellent, and it’s my favorite dish.
