Pension Pannonia

We were put in a different building from the one announced, and the owner communicated poorly. The room was tiny and freezing. On our December arrival day it was only 17 degrees, and despite repeated calls and promises from the operator, it never got warmer through the night. We slept in our clothes and winter hats. Instead of helping, the operator told us to go to sleep. Outrageous. The WIFI didn’t work. Breakfast was horrible: toasted bread, 1x triangle of cheese, 1x small marmalade, 1x small stick of butter, a small drink in a plastic bottle, and 1x capsule of coffee. Disgusting. For 130 Euros per night, I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

We arrived at the accommodation at 10PM and were refused, so we had to find somewhere else to stay. We didn’t get the accommodation or our money back for a service we never received. They offered a stay at another time, but I explained clearly that I wouldn’t be traveling through the area or even through Hungary. Honestly, after this experience I don’t even want to travel to Hungary anymore. This was the most unpleasant experience I’ve ever had with accommodation and Booking.com.

Our reservation was canceled just 30 min before check-in, with no explanation or warning. We’d booked in April for one night in August, and everything had been confirmed. I’d written directly to ask about our questions when booking, and they confirmed it was all okay. We paid for the apartman one week in advance, then set off on our planned trip by car. We were only 20km away and 30 min from the place when a woman from Pension Pannonia called. She didn’t speak English, and in half English, half German, she shouted “Cancel, Cancel, Cancel, Cancel, No room, Cancel, No room!!!!” before hanging up. I didn’t understand what was happening, so I tried calling several times. When she finally answered, she shouted even louder, wouldn’t let me say a word or ask anything, repeated “cancel” and “no room,” then hung up again. After that she never answered the phone or replied on WhatsApp. I contacted Booking, who tried to reach the apartman, but they got no response either, not even to their calls or customer support email. Canceling so close to check-in, after we’d already traveled and spent time and money, caused us a lot of trouble and ruined the trip. Shouting at customers, not letting them speak, and hanging up after creating all this trouble is really not okay. Don’t choose this place. You’ll only cause yourself problems, and they don’t deserve a place in the accommodation industry. I hope nobody books there and they soon have to close.

Even though our prepaid reservation through BOOKING was canceled for no reason less than an hour before we said we’d arrive, BOOKING told us they couldn’t help because it was non-refundable. It’s the biggest scam ever.
