Hotel Gridlon

We returned for another five nights in 2025, and the Gridlon was just as lovely as before. The property is beautifully maintained, with good food and service. There are plenty of trails, hikes, and scenic drives nearby. We'd happily come back again. From the rooms, many of which have views, the beautiful surroundings are easy to enjoy. They're comfortable, clean, and quiet. The food is delicate and imaginative, and there's a broad wine selection that includes excellent Austrian wines. The hotel also has two pools, saunas, and treatments such as massages and facials. We loved our first stay and planned to return.

The Lieglein family welcome you so warmly, and the hospitality is first-rate. The views are splendid, and the meals are high quality, on a par with well-known restaurants. This fantastic hotel deserves more recognition.

The spa and the outdoor pool, steaming at the foot of the mountains, show how much the hotel has added over the years. Even so, the place has kept its timeless charm. The Lieglein family, now three generations involved, still run it with kindness, grace, and great taste. My wife and I chose half board, and unless you're on a strict diet, I'd recommend it. Chef Christian Lieglein made every evening feel like a culinary celebration, while Sigrid welcomed us warmly and made sure everything went smoothly. The food, service, and authenticity impressed me deeply. I first came to the family-run Hotel Gridlon in Pettneu with my parents in the 1990s, when I was eight. Its mix of Austrian charm, chic but simple, stayed with me and shaped how I think about the guest experience. Returning thirty years later, as a hotelier who has worked at some of the world's most renowned luxury properties, exceeded my expectations. It felt like stepping into a time capsule of warmth and genuine family hospitality. The Gridlon reminded me what matters in a guest's stay: a balance of sophistication and simplicity. For a week of timeless bliss, it's a masterclass in creating unforgettable moments. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Breakfast is amazing, with just about everything you could want. Lunch and the afternoon snack change with the season, but are always good. Each evening brings a five-course meal with a salad buffet and several options, so you can choose healthy or vegetarian dishes, traditional food, or something more modern. The Lieglein family and their staff make you feel at home with warm, personal, professional service. The hotel is well kept, mixing traditional Austrian touches with modern areas in a way that feels just right. It's a great Alpine retreat in any season. The new spa and pool areas have several saunas and places to relax, for guests who want to spend time together or unwind quietly. Pettneu is peaceful, with high mountains, forests, and meadows, and no disturbances from traffic or partying. St Anton is still easy to reach, especially with the hotel shuttle in winter. Families, couples, and groups can all have an unforgettable stay here.
