Seehotel Dr. Jilly

I booked directly after seeing the hotel’s Instagram page, and I’ve just come back from a wonderful few days. I was travelling alone but felt safe and looked after right from day one. When heavy showers greeted me on arrival, Victoria at reception, who speaks excellent English, went out of her way to explain what I needed to know and cheer me up. I was so glad she did, because the next morning was stunning. My room was spotless and smelled of fresh sheets. The bathroom was modern and well designed within the room, and the lake view was gorgeous. Mr Rieser, the general manager, was often around and always greeted me by name, which was a lovely touch. Wilfred, the restaurant manager, looked after me from the first evening. He was professional and attentive, helped with questions about food and wine, and checked that guests were all doing well. The hotel’s in a spectacular, peaceful residential area among other hotels. Dining on the verandah was superb, and I enjoyed the food and main-course choices. The apricot dumplings were delicious too. The See promenade, lined with roses, is a beautiful place for photos. The hotel is close to the airport, and a train ride of about 15 minutes takes you to pretty Klagenfurt, with lots to see. The kind, helpful staff really want you to enjoy your stay. I didn’t want to leave, and I already miss swimming in the lake, just steps away from the decking. It’s a little gem if you want to swim, relax, read, and enjoy good food. Our only real complaint was the price. We stayed during a period with a small discount, but because not all our nights fell within those dates, we didn’t receive it, which felt disappointing. Otherwise, this charming boutique hotel was a great place to stay. It blends old and new, and the director and staff were available, helpful, and open to questions or requests. Our room was clean and comfortable, a little small but with a balcony and beautiful lake views. Breakfast was fresh and good quality, with a nice mix of sweet and savoury foods, including ham, eggs, vegetables, and meat. We spent our days at the hotel’s jilly beach and really enjoyed the landing stage. Dinner was delicious too, with an excellent menu made from fresh, organic ingredients. It’s definitely worth booking breakfast and dinner with your room. We’d recommend the place.

Our wedding at Seehotel Dr. Jilly was a wonderful experience, and everything surpassed what we expected. The venue was beautifully decorated for the ceremony, with tasteful details that gave the day charm and elegance. The staff were professional and attentive to what we wanted and needed, helping the event run smoothly. The food was excellent, and our guests loved the dishes. Getting to the restaurant was frustrating. I asked the receptionist for directions and she sent us the long way around. When I tried to register my license plate in the parking lot, she turned us away because we were “just eating in the restaurant.” A very unpleasant experience.
