We stayed in a little house by the lake and treated it like a camping trip, so we only tried the breakfast buffet. The place is pleasant and well kept, and breakfast was pretty good for a place of this size. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it. The staff were friendly and helpful, there are nice hiking trails nearby, and it’s an easy drive from Vienna while still feeling far enough from home. Our house had an outdoor fire pit and more wood than we could ever use. Evening fires were the biggest hit with my girls. There’s also a decent kitchen if you want to cook, and a Billa store just a few minutes down the road. We were happy with the stay, but a couple of things held it to four stars. A train passes late at night, right behind the little house we had. We were tired from hiking all day and didn’t mind much, but it’s something to know. We also felt the price was pretty high for what you get.

We paid 170€ for one night and got a dusty room crammed with stuff, old mattresses and towels, a toilet that was falling apart, and decor I found distasteful. The price didn’t match what was on offer, so I wouldn’t recommend it. The place had a hoarder-like feel, with things packed everywhere that didn’t go together and leftovers from items that seemed no longer used. Some personnel also had such a strong odor that I couldn’t stay in the same room with them. If you’ve already booked breakfast, run, or at least stick to the Marmelade. The scrambled eggs were horrific.

A pleasant hotel, with tasty food that includes some homegrown vegetables and herbs. The staff are friendly.

I visited the garden, but it was overgrown and unkempt, mostly herbs with a few fruit trees. It wasn’t worth the €5.
