Breakfast was generous, with fresh bread or rolls, cold cuts, cheeses, honey, jam, and drinks like tea, coffee, milk, and water. There was plenty to choose from. The host family were friendly, easy to talk to, and attentive to guests. The furnishings are dated, but everything was clean and worked fine. Maierhofen is a quiet, lovely village. You can walk to bus connections for nearby towns, farther destinations, and ski areas. They’re free with the Guest Mobility Card, which also gets you free or discounted access to attractions. Fulseck is the nearest ski area, and you can even walk there from Maierhofen in about 15 minutes along a country lane through charming Dorfgastein. Dorfgastein has shops, restaurants, and a grocery store with an ATM. This is a fantastic place if you want a quiet, cozy, rustic stay without extra frills.
