Camping Dachstein & Pension Gsenger

The owners were wonderful, and the balcony view was lovely. We spent two nights at the Pension and were amazed by how spotless the room was. Breakfast had everything we could want, both sweet and savory.

There was far too much to do for just two days, and the hike the owners suggested started right from the campsite. They shared maps, pointed us to a lovely nearby place to eat, and offered fresh bread in the morning for a cost. When we first got in touch, the site was full, and I can see why. The website says they usually accept stays of 6 days or more. We waited until the end of our Austria trip to compare all the campsites, and this little hidden gem was easily the best by a long way. It’s tucked into the mountains, very clean and peaceful, and each pitch is assigned ahead of time with amazing views. The friendliest owners greeted us, along with three furry friends. The toilets are small but never busy, and they’re cleaned constantly. This was the highlight of our trip. The views on the way up are breathtaking. Thank you both!

The hosts, Inge and Niels, were kind and helpful with all our questions. We had a wonderful stay for our ski trip, with a satisfying breakfast and a really nice place to come back to. The drive to a large ski area took 10-15 minutes. I’d recommend it in ski season, and can imagine it being lovely in summer too.

We rented pitch 5 for 4 nights, and it was the best camping experience ever. It’s family-run, the hosts were incredibly friendly, and the showers, toilets, and shared spaces were always clean. Laundry is available for a fee, and they let me keep my medicines in their freezer, which I really appreciated. I’ll definitely return on my next holiday in Austria!
