The setting is breathtaking, perched above an incredible valley with high mountain peaks. Inside, the Simonlehner family and team have created such a comfortable, homely place for a relaxing holiday, with fresh, phenomenal food and thoughtful little touches throughout. I feel so lucky I could stay at the end of their fall season. Christina and her lovely family were incredible hosts. I can't wait to return, and highly recommend this special hotel!

After a lovely day on the trails, we were hungry on the descent from Silberkarklamm to Guttenberghaus and asked for a table at the restaurant. They turned us away because we had no reservation, despite many empty tables. We also asked politely for a stamp on our hiking card, but were told we had to buy a drink because stamps were only for customers. We left with the card unfinished and in a bad mood. It's a shame to end the day that way after such a great hike. The other Austrian people we'd met earlier had all been nice and helpful.

Even with the nice view, the waitress checking on us every ten minutes made the meal uncomfortable. The menu offered bio choices, but the food didn't live up to that promise. The salad buffet after 18:00 was a nice touch, while the BIO meatloaf and Austrian pasta were disappointing. The fried potatoes seemed to be pre-frozen, too. I wouldn't recommend it.

We had a lovely weekend here, and really enjoyed cycling around the area. The sauna was just what we needed after a long day of walking and biking.

We only came for dinner and didn't stay at the hotel. The food and drinks were amazing, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with very friendly staff. I'd recommend calling ahead to reserve a table.
