A cozy little cottage in a beautiful setting, with a hospitable, friendly host. The rooms were super clean and breakfast had plenty of variety. Recommended!

The area is breathtaking, and the accommodation is excellent and modern. We also started each day with a delicious breakfast. Our kind, attentive hostess made the stay memorable, and we felt completely at ease. We highly recommend this guesthouse.

I stayed at Felsenheim for almost three weeks and enjoyed it so much that I extended by another week and a half. Erika Landl is a wonderfully warm and helpful host, very welcoming and always keeping the place in lovely shape. She puts out a generous breakfast buffet every day, and I felt right at home. It’s a very quiet spot in the foothills, with no lighting at night, so I slept beautifully. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with high-quality furnishings throughout, including sturdy curtains. I especially liked having a big wardrobe to organize my clothes and hiking gear. The flower-covered balcony has magnificent views. I could wash my sweaty hiking clothes in the bathroom and hang them on the balcony, where there are hooks and a small drying rack. For hikes, Rittisberg is close by, as is Ramsau Beach, and many of the trails are gentle and family-friendly. Walking uphill to the Edelbrunn hikers’ meeting point takes around 50 minutes, so allow extra time. Several routes to the Dachstein and alpine pastures start there. You can also catch a bus towards the Dachstein or go to Rössing to see the Lodenwalker, a traditional wool-making workshop, and Silberkarklamm gorge with its via ferratas. Reiteralm is another option. The bus also goes down to Schladming, though I found it so lovely up here that I skipped the town. I managed the trip there and back without a car, carrying a backpack, sports bag and trolley. Ramsau village has what you need, including a newsagent, post office, bank, supermarket, the great Zeitroas museum, and a lovely swimming pool with a really good sauna for rainy days. Buses run about hourly, more often in the morning and less around midday, but stop by early evening, so plan hikes with that in mind. For places on the other side, such as Hauser Kaibling, it’s best to drive or arrange a ride. A bus stops at the Panorama stop in front of the house in the morning. Otherwise, Langegasse on the main road is a 700-meter walk, around 15 minutes. The Summer Card gives you free use of local public transport and many gondolas. I highly recommend Felsenheim as a base for a wonderful holiday and hiking trips!
