Tauernhof

The food was brilliant for a half-board hotel, and Thomas, our main waiter, was a truly lovely guy. Everyone at the hotel was great. We first stayed here in 2011, and this was our second visit. It still has Austrian charm and culture, while being kept up to date over the years. The pool was first class, and the spa and sauna were a real treat after a day on the slopes. We’ll be back.

The only little downside for me was being charged for tap water in the restaurant. That seems bizarre, though maybe it’s an Austrian thing. The hotel itself is fantastic for a ski trip, right in a central location with all the facilities you’d want. I stayed for a week with my daughter, who had fun making friends in the kids room. Breakfast and dinner were both great, and we liked choosing the next day’s meal in advance. The staff were efficient and the hotel runs like a well-oiled machine. The pool and spa are quite small, but warm and fun for the kids after a long day. The boot room is handy.

The room was comfortable, warm and very clean, and the spa facilities were wonderful. What really topped the holiday was the food and service at mealtimes. Breakfast and dinner were superb every day, and the Christmas Day Gala Dinner was wonderful, with great food and enjoyable live music. Our family of four, two adults and two teenage boys, has just returned from another week at Hotel Tauernhof over Christmas. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was excellent. Every staff member went out of their way to make us feel at home, nothing was a problem, and they helped us with real smiles. Thank you for making our holiday so special.

Getting up the mountain in the morning and back at the end of the day was easy, thanks to the hotel’s closeness to Maiskogel and the ski lockers. We enjoyed our stay over New Year. The professional, kind staff and owner family made the vacation hassle-free, and the New Year’s Eve dinner was especially nice. We had a pleasant evening and will be back 🙂
