Pension Waldhauser

It’s peaceful up on the mountain, and the lovely Pöllatal is close by. We spent 10 days at Pension Waldhauser and would gladly recommend it. Frau Ramsbacher really looked after us with the food at breakfast and dinner. The rooms were tidied every day, and towels were changed every two days.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the guesthouse was so quiet that we slept wonderfully. We paid €150 for the night, including our two dogs, and were sorry we’d booked just one night. We arrived late because of a traffic jam, but were still given a delicious dinner of soup, schnitzel, salad, and dessert, followed by breakfast the next morning. We even got to watch the dairy cows being driven up to the alpine pasture. It’s not luxurious, but you’d have to pay more for that.

Dinner was a highlight each day, with soup, a main course, and dessert. The meals felt balanced and never too much, which I appreciated as someone who pays attention to healthy eating. We also enjoyed sitting in the living room after dinner with the baby monitor, chatting without disturbing the children. Our rooms were clean, tidy, and comfortably spacious, and we slept very well. We spent a lovely week in the Katschberg area at the Waldhauser guesthouse, where everything was personal and easy to arrange. They could shift dinner by an hour, and were accommodating with early departures and sick leave requests.

The views over the mountain and valley are stunning, and breakfast was delicious. This is an authentic mountain house with very nice, clean rooms and a sweet, attentive hostess. We only stopped on the way to Croatia, but could easily have stayed longer. Until next time!
