The service was even better than the phenomenal food. We ate at the restaurant and loved it.

The friendly staff and good breakfast were the bright spots, and it was useful being able to store our bikes. The restaurant closes early, though I couldn’t find the 21:00 closing time on booking. After a long day cycling, I hoped to eat at 21:15, but the kitchen was already shut and I had to find food elsewhere. The hotel is beside the road, and with the window open on a hot summer night, the traffic was too noisy for me. There was a noticeable cigarette smoke smell in the hall on the way to the lobby, though I didn’t notice it in the rooms. The pillows were poor too, and I had to fold one four times to make it decent. Edit: The owner later sent me a private message calling me a coward for not raising the complaints in person. After that, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. He could have simply thanked me for the feedback and said they look for ways to improve.

We arrived at 8 in the evening on 31 May after travelling from Italy with a friend. The receptionist, who we later understood was the owner, said we had booked the last room, with breakfast included. The bill came to 130 euros for one night B&B, plus 6 euros for two small paninies we made at breakfast to eat later. The wifi never worked while we were there. We were leaving early and hadn’t eaten much, so we made the paninies in the otherwise nearly empty, very large breakfast room. The owner was walking around and watching us, which felt intrusive and uncomfortable. When we paid, he asked about them and charged 3 euros each. I thought that was petty. I called to complain about the lack of courtesy and wifi, but he was extremely rude, raised his voice, said he’d done us a favour by giving us the last room and that the wifi worked, then told me I was nothing and hung up while I was pointing out how rudely he was speaking. I’ve never experienced anything like it. We have a very bad memory of this hotel because of the owner’s manners and treatment, and wouldn’t recommend it.

The two kinds of gulash we tried were great, both served with home made specle. My "Hirschgulash von Rind" also came with a small salad. But once we’d finished, nobody came back to check on us. We wanted dessert, then ended up just paying. Other tables’ food looked good too, and the "wiener schnitzel" was enormous.
