The room and bathroom were spacious, with a big elegant shower, a large shelf cabinet, and a big mirror over the sink. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and tasty, the Hungarian staff were kind, and there's private parking. The hotel is nicely located near the castle. Still, the owner's response to a basic request made this a very unpleasant stay. There was no fridge in our room or any guest area, and after 4 o'clock there was no staff at this 32-room hotel. A number was provided for guests who needed help, but no one answered for hours. When Ms. Gertraud Pfeifer finally called back, she was upset that we wanted somewhere to keep our food and icepacks. She said we should have mentioned it at check-in and that she wasn't obligated to provide a fridge. We tried to find a solution, offering to take our things to any address if nobody could return to put them in the large kitchen fridge. She wouldn't help. We also asked for the number of a Hungarian-speaking colleague, thinking it might be easier to get help in our mother tongue, but she refused that too. With no other option, we sat on the edge of the beds and ate what we could: food for four people for a full-day excursion the next day, plus chocolate we'd bought as gifts. The rest melted and spoiled in the 30 C degree heat. We lost 120 euros' worth of food. The large room for five had no table or even a single chair. It was hot in the attic room, with no air-conditioning or fan. We couldn't open the windows until 1:30 am because of noise from the Café down the street. The beds had heavy winter comforters, so we removed the covers and used those instead. The pillows were big, shapeless, and uncomfortable. We didn't get the comfortable night's sleep a hotel should provide. After that restless night, we enjoyed the delicious breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The owner appeared and repeated that she wasn't required to provide a fridge, instead of apologizing or leaving us alone. Maybe she isn't required to. To me, helping in this situation is just a matter of basic hospitality.
