Holiday Lodge Central

We had a great time in this cottage, but at this price it felt too expensive. One bathroom needs replacing, the beds are too hard and too small, and the pillows are worn out. Parking could be better too.

The place is right at the edge of the town center, at the end of the street, but parking isn't enough for a group of 16. The apartment seems suited to about 8 people. With 12, and especially 16, it felt disgraceful for the price, over €6000 in winter. The table can't seat more than 10 for a meal, and the sauna is too small for two. Sleeping is mostly in 185cm bunk beds, more like a youth hostel. Upstairs there's an odd smell in the bedroom, and two of the three toilets have a 70s feel. The upstairs bathroom is missing towel hooks and a toilet paper holder, and the shower head is only 175cm high. In the kitchen, the concrete backsplash still has last season's cooking splashes, and the small fridge for 16 people has a door that won't close, though the freezer is huge. There's also a piece of wood smoldering dangerously above the sauna stove. The website photos use wide angles and make the apartment look far roomier than it is. Paying the full amount on arrival didn't surprise us. Some reviews seem to have been deleted, and at least one very positive one is apparently from the owner himself. Draw your own conclusions.

We stayed here for a winter break in 2017 and were very happy with it. The house is modern and comfortable, in a great spot, just 200 meters from the center of Saalbach. We'd definitely come back.

The photos look great, but there isn't much else positive to say. The place is a total mess, run-down and cheaply put together, and the price is outrageous even judging by those pictures. I'm usually not fussy, but this dump was so filthy it felt like you'd catch herpes. Anyone hoping for a nice holiday should stay away!!!!
