The room was plain, with no extras, and the floors and even walls squeaked so much we could hear neighbors from every side. On the other hand, it was cleaned well, with the floors washed daily, which mattered after skiing with wet boots and snow. Breakfast was tasty but average and repetitive. By the end of the week I was trying to make something new from the same choices. The breakfast staff were always smiling and friendly, though, and I appreciated that. The best thing is the location, about a five-minute walk from all the ski lifts. Still, I found the price hard to justify. Even with Booking discounts, we paid around €1700, and based on my experience I wouldn't value it at more than €100 a night. We were told parking was free when booking, but it actually cost €11 per day, on top of the city tax. That added up to about €100. The balcony listing was misleading too: it was shared by the whole floor, so anyone stepping out to smoke could look into our room. That felt very unpleasant. There was also an upsetting encounter with a receptionist. A staff member aggressively told me to move my car immediately, while refusing to speak English or French. Later he ran around the hotel and knocked on our door, even though the parking situation hadn't changed and free spaces were still available.

The bedding was the nicest surprise. The mattress had a comfortable medium feel, there were both high and low pillows to choose from, and the thick duvet kept me sleeping well all night. The room was spotless too, with a shiny floor and no water marks in the bathroom tile gaps. Mysophobic patients would be very satisfied.

There are convenience and fruit stores downstairs, which made shopping easy, and the shopping street in the city center is only five minutes away on foot. Nearby attractions are also within walking distance. The room has a humidifier, so sleeping was comfortable even in the dry season.

I felt at home right away because everyone was so welcoming. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and offered to help with our luggage, and even the cleaning lady greeted us with a smile. The whole experience was beyond what I expected.

We had a great off-season holiday in Saalbach and would definitely come back. The rooms were spacious and clean, breakfast was great, and the staff were kind and friendly. Our only small wish is for a slightly bigger TV in the room.
