Hotel Saalbacher Hof

We spent a week skiing in Saalbach as a group of 16 and had a wonderful time at Hotel Saalbacher hof. The hotel is a couple of minutes' walk from the ski lifts, with the Schattberg the closest, and the ski bus stops there too. Check-in was easy, our room was ready when we arrived, and everything was clean and tidy. All the employees were helpful from the start. Breakfast had lots of options for different dietary needs, and the five-course evening meal was beautiful, with plenty to choose from. My friends said the pool and spa areas were fantastic, though I didn't use them myself. The bar near reception is lovely, and the adjoining bar/restaurant is cosy and serves great food. If you're after a hotel close to the lifts and apres-ski, Saalbacher hof is a great choice.

Getting to the slopes was easy from Saalbacher Hof, with three gondolas nearby. The pool and sauna were a relaxing treat after a day out, and dinner had a great range of delicious choices each evening. The restaurant waiters were friendly, attentive and really service-minded. Check-in was smooth and welcoming too. Highly recommended from our Danish family of four, with kids aged 9 and 12.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the food had lots of choice with themed nights. They also catered properly for vegans, which was nice to see, even though I'm not vegan. We had a very comfortable stay and would happily return. The library was a favorite spot: quiet and cosy, with a power socket beside every sofa and direct access to the garden. The roof garden was beautiful and spacious, with great views and room to sit and take a breath. After skiing, the spa was a treat, with indoor and outdoor pools, a jacuzzi and saunas. The hotel is right in the centre of Saalbach, close to three main ski lifts. We could walk to each in a few minutes wearing ski boots, with no bus or complicated planning. Inside, the hotel is high standard but relaxed. The rooms are big, practical and well laid out, the bathrooms have everything you need, and everything was clean and tidy. They've handled practical details well too. The ski and bike room is spacious and comfortable. On departure day, the luggage room gave us space to leave our bags, change clothes and repack any time after checkout. Those little details really matter.

We spent Christmas break at Saalbacherhof and were very satisfied overall. The rooms and beds were comfortable, and the service and staff were excellent. Special thanks to Vlad, our waiter for the week, who went the extra mile for us. Some areas, like the dining area, could use an interior stylist, but that's a matter of personal taste.
