Hotel Modus

The hotel is modern, tidy, and well located. The heating in our room wasn’t working very well. I reported it and they looked into it, but unfortunately it wasn’t fixed during our stay.

This place gave us a whole collection of memorable experiences. At night we had to kill bugs before bed, lived with spiderwebs, and had so little soap and toiletries that we couldn’t wash our hair. The washroom situation felt like staying beside a bus or airplane toilet: every time a washroom door opened or closed, a wave of odor came along. It also felt like staying in my grandparents’ old house, with greyish wood and home accessories starting to mold, water stains on the carpet, and reused or leftover coffee and tea bags. The hotel is very considerate about training your night vision. They turn on the outdoor light in the morning when it’s bright, then leave it off when it’s dark, so if you have bad vision and can’t do yoga well, you can practice not tripping and falling. They really love solo guests too, since there’s only one set of keys. The door can only be locked from inside or outside with the key. We loved the unique decor so much that we kept hitting our bodies on the wooden light and the top and bottom wall trim every night. Please visit this 3 stars hotel for so much fun! They’ll gladly clean your room for a small cost, 10euro for a towel change or 20euro for intermediate cleaning. 😀

The area felt safe and wasn’t too busy, and it’s about half a mile from the bridge to old Town. The rooms were very clean and nicely finished, but they’re tight and have little ventilation. The ceiling fan helped, though it still felt a bit like a sweat box. It would probably be fine in winter, since the bathroom floor and towel rack are heated and there’s radiator heat too.

It was quiet and the room was clean. The shower water could have been warmer, though, and you can feel it change right away when someone in the next room turns on a tap. They also don't provide much shampoo, so bring your own.
