Haus Gamberg

Michaela really made the stay for me. She knows the area well, happily shares local tips, and gives excellent service. There’s also a lovely daily gesture: from around 10:00am, cakes left over from breakfast are put out for guests. Haus Gamberg is very dated, with much of it feeling unchanged since the 1970s, especially the kitchen, crockery and cookware. Still, the quality is remarkable. Everything is well made and works, which is refreshing next to newer but cheaply made places. The rooms are plain and practical, and the beds and bedding are comfortable after a day on the slopes. The ski room is basic, with manual drying and no heated boot racks or modern system. Prices are high in St Anton generally. Haus Gamberg costs less than many local alternatives, though it’s still far more than you’d expect outside a ski resort. If you want modern luxury, this may not suit you. For a comfortable, functional stay that’s good value for St Anton, with a host who cares about guests, it’s a great option.
