Alpenrock Schladming by ALPS RESORTS

We go skiing in Schladming twice a year and had been looking forward to trying Rohrmoos, but the stay was such a disappointment that we left a night early. The apartment had only been cleaned on the surface. Food from previous guests was still in the fridge and smelled bad, and there was dirt under the beds, sofas, and furniture. There was no soap in the bathrooms, and with eight people we found just one roll of toilet paper in each of the two toilets. Those are basic things, and for what we paid, it was unacceptable to have to run to a shop for soap and paper. We also paid a €350 deposit. We definitely won't return.

For winter sports, the location is great: two gondolas are a five-minute walk away with your gear. There's also a slope straight to the building, but it goes flat and then slightly uphill for a while, so it's not friendly for snowboarders. The buildings are fine and have what you need. Service was pretty poor, though. The dishwasher was broken, and after we reported it on the first day and four more times, nobody did anything. They promised a rebate, which I'm still waiting for. The sauna is good, but cleaning takes place during opening hours, with five nice gentlemen walking around. Just a heads-up, some women may feel uncomfortable with that.

We stayed in a cosy, modern, clean apartment with a fully equipped kitchen and an amazing terrace view. The sauna was super, and the ladies at reception were extremely nice and thoughtful. Emma was especially helpful and always ready to assist. It was a fantastic stay, away from busy Schladming but still close to the slopes.

The biggest hassle was getting our ski boots from the locker with only one key for a four-person apartment. The boot lockers use the apartment key, and since we were on the second floor, someone had to keep going between the apartment entrance key locker and the boot locker. Sometimes someone had locked it again by the time we got back. We asked for a second key, but got promises only. Others told us nobody had managed to get one either. It made skiing a pain. The building and location are nice, and the reception is far away, so keep that in mind. The apartments have no microwave and are missing some basic utensils. The small bugs weren't too bad, but they could pay attention to that too.
