The location is good, there’s parking, and the cleaners and reception staff were kind and helpful. Some of the Hungarian bar staff were friendly too. Beyond that, this was a disappointing and stressful Christmas, by far the worst we’ve had in Austria despite coming here for around 10 years. We wouldn’t recommend the hotel. There was no festive atmosphere on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, with no decorations or special dinner. When we asked about dinner, we were told there wouldn’t be one specifically because we had booked through SunWeb. That was especially disappointing over the holidays. The rooms were very cold from the first few days, with radiators that were barely warm. The spa also fell short: for the first three days the sauna and steam room were barely warm, and the pool was around 24°C, too cold for us to use. Water and drink charges were poorly explained. Staff first refused to give us tap water, saying the boss wouldn’t allow it and that we could only buy bottled water. Later, the manager said tap water could be provided without mentioning a charge, but a service charge for it appeared on our bill the following day. On Christmas Day, we brought two bottles of homemade wine to have with dinner since there was no special meal. The manager said we couldn’t bring our own drinks, again without mentioning a charge. The next day, €75 was added for three bottles of wine we hadn’t bought from the hotel, as a charge for bringing our own drinks. That felt unfair. Several times at dinner, there wasn’t enough food for everyone. When we raised it, a waiter said all the portions had already been brought out, leaving us feeling as if we were being accused of taking more than our share.

This really didn't feel like a four-star hotel. The management was rude, the food and restaurant service were poor, and at first the waiters refused to bring us tap water. Our room was cold for several nights, the pool was cold, and the steam room wasn't working properly. Read the reviews before booking.

Dinner was included, which was nice, though the risotto was the exception. The location is great, close to the middle of the ski area.

We had a great week at the Alpinhotel. After long days skiing, the sauna and heated pool were just what we wanted, and the spacious rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day. The bar made a nice place to spend the evenings, with a good wine selection and great beer. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and dinner was a real treat. Chef Milan cooked delicious food every day, especially his grandmas soups, though the main courses were excellent too. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout and made our holiday special. I’d definitely recommend staying here for the facilities and food.
