Burgfellnerhof

We were won over by the thoughtful touches: each family had a table marked with their name, there were good-day wishes on the restaurant napkins, and we received a farewell gift. The SPA was also very nicely equipped, and the rooms were clean, well furnished, and had a lovely view. I’d always been unsure about family hotels and their service, but the owners, waiters, and lovely maids were all so friendly. The food was excellent. We went out of our way to stay here and will definitely come back.

We managed perfectly well getting around by public transport with the timetables, and the hotel even gave us a lift to and from the bus stop when we arrived and left. We spent eight nights at the burgfellnerhof hotel in Rohrmoos near Schladming, on half board, and chose a mountain-view room. The view was breathtaking, and the room was spotless and spacious enough for us. Breakfast and dinner came with beautiful mountain views, and they really tried to cater for our vegan diet. Some dishes were very good and nicely balanced. Staff were friendly, quick to respond, and keen to help. We also got along well with some of the other guests. Having a table assigned to each party for the whole stay made it easier to socialize. There’s a sauna and an outdoor pool too.

The swimming pond was beautiful, the staff were very nice, and the gym had good equipment. Our junior suite was pleasant, cleaning was thorough, and both breakfast and dinner were good, apart from two simple dishes we didn’t like one evening. Get to breakfast early. Also, on three mornings the corridor vacuuming started at 7:15. We happened to be awake already, thankfully. The thing that bothered us was a sewer smell coming through the shower drain in the bathroom each morning. We noticed it when we arrived too. Showering made it go away, though on some days it came back later. We told the staff.

The food was consistently tasty and presented really well, and the location is ideal for skiing. We had five rooms, and the recently renovated ones were especially nice. All the rooms were very spacious and clean. We’d be very happy to stay again and recommend it.
