SUN SIDE by Schladming Appartements

We really enjoyed our stay in August. The apartment was very nice and well equipped, the area was quiet, and the view was astonishing. Recommended.

The views are lovely, but getting to restaurants means a walk, and the bus only runs three times a day in each direction. You really need a car. Also, take earplugs or ask for an upper floor, or stay somewhere else. At first the room looked perfect and well appointed, but it faced a central lift, and being on the ground floor meant I could hear everyone coming and going. Then guests in the next room had a party until after 4am, with doof doof music and apres singing vibrating through my room. There were no staff on site at night. When I complained in the morning, I was told “their guests don’t party,” though I had a recording as proof. The response was unexpectedly unfriendly and unsympathetic. The staff I saw were cold, like the pool, and unfriendly, though mostly efficient. The place seemed less clean as the week went on. The hallways were dirty, with muddy dog prints still there all week. Edit: I never contacted the other guests, despite that claim in the response. It’s sad to see blame being shifted instead of accepting that my stay was substandard and trying to do better for other guests. I won’t go back.

We stayed at Sun Lodge for 8 nights. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed and was clean, with a great view of Schladming and the slopes. For the best view, I’d suggest a room on a higher floor, one of the premium ones. On the way home we left a bag behind with children’s necessities and books. They kindly shipped it back to us free of charge. Top customer service, and the best price-to-value option in Schladming!

The apartments are fairly basic and sparsely decorated, but the service, location, and view are fantastic. I’ve stayed at Sun Lodge several times. You can arrange whatever you need, from grocery deliveries to special birthday celebrations. It’s also great being able to do laundry and cook homemade meals during long stretches of travel.
