Taferne was a warm, pleasant place to stay, thanks to the friendly, efficient staff and the helpful owners, Kevin and Katrine, who handled our group’s questions and requests. Our rooms were clean and serviced daily. The food was excellent: generous cooked portions, salad every evening, and a good continental breakfast. We had a fantastic ski trip in the 4 Peaks Schladming area, which works well for learners and for more experienced and advanced skiers. One small snag was the spring bus timetable. The local ski bus stops right outside the hotel, but the times aren’t ideal for people skiing early or wanting to stay on the slopes until closing. Some of our group wanted to finish later and enjoy the sauna, while many were happy to finish earlier. There was also a regional bus from Schladming’s central bus station, but that meant waiting at the end of the day. That worked if you wanted to enjoy Apres Ski or stop at a supermarket.

The hotel matches its price and star rating, and the staff were very friendly. The ski bus leaves from the hotel, though its timing isn’t very convenient for early morning skiers. Otherwise, it was fine.

The food was excellent and had a regional feel. This is a lovely family hotel, run with kindness and hospitality. The rooms are basic but more than adequate. The main drawback is how infrequently the bus runs to the ski slopes.

The bus to the ski lift stops right outside, which made getting there easy. We stayed as part of the Oak Hall ski trip and had a lovely time. Kevin and the team looked after us so well, and the food was fabulous. Our room was clean and spacious, with thoughtful little details. We didn't really get to explore the village or anywhere else. Thank you!
