The free summer card gives access to plenty of local activities and attractions, which is a great extra. Staff are friendly and go above and beyond, and the food is excellent, with quality ingredients and lots of choice at every meal. The hotel is a little above the city, so you get privacy and beautiful views. It’s been nicely renovated and has an outdoor infinity pool, several saunas, a big gym, and an amazing indoor playroom for kids. A hidden gem in the Alps.

We felt welcome from the moment we arrived at this family-run hotel. The food was among the best in the area, and the family and staff were always polite, attentive, and helpful. Ski-in, ski-out access was so convenient. A real gem in Schladming, and a perfect stay for us.

We’re already looking forward to our return. We’ve stayed at Schwaigerhof twice, last ski season and again this summer, and have a third visit booked for February 2025. We visited with our children, aged 6-9, and they love staying here as much as we do. There’s an outdoor play area, bunnies, summer go-karts, a basketball court, and indoor play spaces in winter, so they have plenty of freedom and choice. The spa feels luxurious and peaceful. Its new extension is sublime, the aufguss programme is a welcome addition, and the infinity pool is a lovely temperature with a stunning backdrop. I had a relaxing hot stone massage and my husband had a classic massage. Meals are beautifully presented and excellent, with something for every taste, including mine as a vegetarian. Breakfast has a wide selection, and the light lunchtime buffet offers savoury and sweet snacks. The staff are conscientious and speak excellent English, so we feel very welcome and at ease with the Schwaigerhof team. The resort is beautifully equipped and well placed for the ski school slope on Hochwurzen. Planai and the lift to the top of Hochwurzen are easy to reach by ski bus or car.
