Huberhof

The apartment smelled bad and was damp, with broken appliances and not enough cutlery or plates. We only took it because it was the only place available. Now I can see why.

At least the location and size of the accommodation were good, and there was a balcony and free parking. But the internet was very poor, and parts of the apartment were quite dirty, with dust and lots of cobwebs that looked weeks old, plus filthy windows. The toilet paper was yellowed and damp, and without a shower curtain the bathroom flooded after every shower. The bedroom curtains were missing too, and there were hardly any electrical outlets. It was also extremely odd to see a contest for the best review, offering a discounted stay as the prize. Reaching the host, by message or in person, was very difficult. We did get guest cards, but all three names were misspelled.

The location speaks for itself 👌 The kitchen was attractive and superbly equipped, while the second bed and living room sofa could use replacing. Some outlets are in awkward spots, one right in a door’s swing and another at the head of the bed. You can clearly hear the high-voltage power line from the balcony or outside, with an electrical crackling sound. The owners can’t be held responsible for that, and with the windows closed we couldn’t hear it inside. Simple but solid.

We were told before arriving that they couldn’t provide a baby cot or high chair and that we’d need to arrange those ourselves. When we looked around, though, we found travel cots and high chairs in the house, some even brand new. Absolutely outrageous. We paid a lot for practically nothing, and had to clean the apartment ourselves on arrival so our baby could crawl around. We sent Alpenidyll Apartments photos of all the problems, but got no financial compensation. The house is extremely noisy, and conversations from other apartments carry through. The whole Huberhof feels neglected. Outside, the building looks run-down, with sagging balcony railings, balconies and windows that badly need repainting, and neglected grounds. The garbage area is the first thing you see, with a crate full of empty beer bottles. Flowers might have helped the balconies look more inviting, but thick cobwebs cover them. There were old animal droppings on a chipped stair tile by the emergency exit. Inside the main entrance, there was a sharp cigarette smell. The reception area first seemed positive because it had been modernized, but past a glass door we saw a carelessly bricked-up area behind it. It could have been finished more neatly. It didn’t look recently renovated. Apartment No. 7 was adequately sized and had two balconies with pleasant mountain views. Still, cigarette smoke came through the bathroom ventilation shaft every morning, and there weren’t enough outlets. There were no small towel hooks, the towel rack could serve at most two people, there was no working outlet for a hairdryer, and water leaked from the sink drain. The bathtub had no curtain or screen, so the bathroom got soaked after a shower, even when squatting. The kitchen utensils were a jumble, the knives were dull, and a large chopping board in the cupboard under the sink was moldy. Some dishes were dirty, and there was only a bare-bones selection. There were no kitchen trash cans, so we had to tie the bags to the kitchen door, which looked disgusting. The living area was similarly haphazard, with an oversized seating area covered in dust and a worn-out couch that looked like it was from the 80s. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired: dust on the seating area and nightstands, dirty floors with dead flies, hair in the cutlery drawer and bathtub, cobwebs, and dirty windowsills. There was also dust throughout the apartment. The cigarette smell came through the bathroom vent each morning.
