The price is on the high side, but the meal at Talbachschenke was among the best I’ve had in a long, long time. My steak was cooked just right, with soft potatoes and a fantastic mushroom sauce that tied it all together, plus broccoli on the side. The place itself feels wonderfully cozy and full of Austrian character, like stepping into a different culture. If you’re in Schladming, I’d hate for you to miss it. I’m sure you’d regret skipping this one.

We had good food and wine at fair prices, and the service was both quick and very friendly. The meat dishes were especially great, though the vegan salad felt a little basic. It’s a lovely, cozy spot by the river in Schladming. In summer, book ahead if you want an outdoor table.

We’re sure to come back. The staff were polite and helpful, and the cozy, romantic setting made the meal even nicer. Everything we ordered tasted great: juicy steak, vegetable soup, schnitzel, jacket potatoes, and pork.
