Pension Matt

The care from the team is what we’ll remember most. When a heavy snowstorm hit on our departure day, they let us stay longer at no extra charge until it passed. We couldn’t take them up on it because we needed to reach Frankfurt that night for our flight to Ecuador the next day. They still helped us clear the snow from the car, lent us the equipment we needed, and checked that we could leave safely. We’re very grateful to the whole Matt family for their kindness and generosity. Mat Sports & Mode Residence felt more like home than a hotel. We were traveling together, father and son, and the team told us ahead of time that our original room couldn’t be set up with separate beds. The bed was large and comfortable, and they offered us a bigger apartment instead. It was absolutely the right choice. The apartment was spacious, warm, and cozy, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, small living space, very large bedroom, comfortable bed, and spotless bathroom. Everything seemed new and well cared for. Even when it was minus 13 °C outside in the morning, it was comfortable indoors. We loved the mountain and ski slope views, especially from the balcony. The place has modern design but still feels welcoming and family-oriented. Having the clothing store downstairs was handy, too. In Au–Schoppernau, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, ski slopes, lifts, and ski schools are all within walking distance. The village is charming and the people are very kind. The price felt reasonable for the comfort, service, and location, especially compared with other places we’ve stayed in Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.
