Gasthof Mairwirt

The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, but that doesn't make up for this "retro room" that feels stuck in the 70s or 80s. The furniture looks more fit for a recycling center, and it seems nothing has been invested in the place for 40 years. I don't think a room like this should be rented out, though perhaps family or friends could stay for free. Breakfast was meager, with no fresh fruit or vegetables. We paid €108, which was €7 more than we paid at the Holiday Inn in Munich at the end of our 10-day cycling tour on the Mozart Cycle Path. One star is honestly too generous.

The pool right beside the building is a highlight, and our dog is welcome too. We're regular guests now and always enjoy our holidays at the Gasthof Mairwirt/Kaiserbirke. It's a cosy inn with clean, comfortable rooms, good portions of food, and very friendly staff who always try to keep guests happy.

The view of the Wilder Kaiser from my room was 100/10. The beds were soft and really comfortable, mattress toppers included. The host was very friendly, and the food was extremely good. Everything I tried was delicious, no matter what I chose. Even if you can't get a room here, I'd say stop by for dinner :)

The setting is fantastic for hiking, cycling, or just enjoying nature, and the inn is in a good location. But during our July stay there was no food service. Our family room was in the annex and felt quite dated, from the couch and kitchen to the other furniture. The mattresses were extremely worn out, and good ones are essential for a comfortable night's sleep.
