Vaya Resort Seefeld

Our family suite was modern, comfortable, cleaned daily, and worked well for four people. Breakfast and dinner were great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But it was too hot in the hotel while eating, and the bar was never staffed in the evenings. It also felt understaffed overall. The worst part came at checkout. We had booked four rooms for a group of eight adults and five children through booking.com, paid when booking, and the hotel had provided children’s cots. On arrival, they said only four adults were listed and claimed we owed another €2,000. We asked them to contact booking.com about the mistake, and that was left on the first day. Then, when we were leaving, the manager said we still owed the money and tried to cancel our airport cabs if we didn’t pay, despite the matter having been dealt with. He tried to stop us leaving for the airport with five children. This was a booking.com mistake, but he blamed us. It left a very disappointing impression after what had otherwise been a lovely stay.

The staff worked incredibly hard and were very friendly throughout our four-night stay at Vaya Seefeld. Our room was spotless and tidy, with a balcony that got sunshine during the day, and it was just right for us. Half board was a first for us, and it was a good choice: a great breakfast buffet and three dinner options each evening, fish, meat, or vegetarian. The ski lifts are about a 15-minute walk away, or you can take the free bus. We had a great time and would definitely return to Vaya Seefeld.

We came back this year for the kind staff, great service, convenient location, and the pool and sauna area, including infrared relaxation after a long day on the slopes. We all loved the breakfast buffet and gastronomic dinners, and the kids especially enjoyed the children’s dinner buffet and pool. They also liked the pizza-burger place across the street for lunch. The hotel serves breakfast and dinner only. I first picked this hotel for its modern alpine interiors and how close it is to the train station, which makes travel by train easy. It’s excellent value, and we’ll certainly be back.

The food was decent, well presented, and the room was really nice, with two bathrooms, lots of space, and a large terrace. We did enjoy parts of our stay at VAYA Hotel Seefeld, especially breakfast and dinner, but the overall experience was badly let down. There was rarely anyone at reception and almost never anyone at the bar. In the evening, staff seemed to disappear altogether, leaving me wondering what we’d do if we lost our room key after midnight. The hotel was far too hot, making it difficult and uncomfortable for everyone in our group to sleep. On departure, we were suddenly told we owed another £2,000 for extra guests, which was completely untrue. The hotel knew how many people were staying: it arranged our transfers from Innsbruck, and all guest names, including those in our room and the rest of the group, were provided during online check-in. The manager threatened to call the police and cancel our airport taxi while we were checking out. It was extremely distressing with five children under five. This left a very bad taste and put a damper on what had otherwise been a great trip. With better staffing and handling of the situation, the stay could have been much better. EDIT: We had no problem paying for transfers to and from the hotel, and paid the hotel directly. We were told that trying to charge guests wrongly at checkout is common practice at this hotel.
