The rooms and breakfast are good, and if you want space and a mountain view, book the family room in advance. I first came to the area around Vent years ago for alpine courses, then returned much later to hike and climb established routes. It’s a great place for hiking, alpine climbing, skiing, or a romantic getaway.

The owners still keep the old atmosphere alive in the dining room and bar, which is something special to me. The building itself has distinctive architecture and is part of Vent’s history, though inside the rooms are comfortable and have everything you need, including a sauna. There’s a drying room for ski gear, and for hikes the owners can advise on huts, routes to reach them, nearby summits, and current conditions. I’ve stayed here around 40 times and watched the place grow from a gasthof into a 3-stars hotel. Each visit has been a pleasure, from seeing the family and having a generous breakfast to enjoying a beer at the bar after hiking or skiing. Dinner is lovely too, with every course from starter to dessert thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Staying in Vent and missing this hotel would be a mistake…

The mountains were right there from our window and balcony, and the room itself was clean with a big, beautiful bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were wonderful. Hannes and Martina are such friendly people, and the hotel made our holiday. Hope to see you next year!

Martina, the owner, was kind and friendly, but unfortunately that’s the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. The place is very old and poorly equipped. There was a bad smell in the lobby on the way to the dining area. Our room was cold because the heating was weak and the wooden balcony doors didn’t seal properly. There’s no radiator in the bathroom, so drying wet gloves, helmets, and socks after skiing was difficult. The hotel also has no ski or boot drying room, so we had to pay extra to leave our things at the ski depot in Solden. Breakfast was okay, but we found the homemade dinner food unpleasant and didn’t want it a second time, so we ate at other nearby hotels instead. Choosing this hotel for our ski holiday was our mistake.
