Haus Alois

The location was good, right by the slopes, though not suitable for beginners. Getting up from the village was a steep walk of at least 25 minutes, and the ski storage was next to the goat stable, with a strong smell. Even so, the biggest problem was the owner, whose controlling and unfriendly manner really affected our stay at Haus Allois. We didn’t feel welcome from the start. She called us in for a “briefing,” laid out the rules in an authoritarian way, and said we had to be quiet after 10 PM. She even threatened to throw us out that night without warning if we didn’t comply. She made each of us say out loud that we understood before she would continue, which made us feel like teenagers, although we were all nearly 30. She also wouldn’t speak English to friends who clearly didn’t understand German, even though she could speak English, which made communication awkward and unnecessarily difficult. On the second-to-last day, she suddenly said checkout was before 9 AM, even though the online information said 10. When we questioned the change and said we’d have liked to know earlier, she was rude and dismissive and demanded to know why we had a problem leaving an hour earlier. We also learned then that she had been entering the apartment daily to “check” on things without telling us. There was no cleaning, towel change, or other service, so we found that an unacceptable invasion of privacy. When we confronted her, she shouted that it was “her apartment.” It also explained why we’d often seen her peeking from behind the curtains whenever we left. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
