The location leaves you feeling quite stranded, and getting food after 20:30 isn’t possible at the hotel. There are no snacks or small shop, only alcohol. Although you can ski directly to the hotel, you can’t ski out from it. You have to walk to the next drag lift, and the road isn’t cleared on snowy days. You can reach the hotel by 4x4, but you won’t be offered help if you need it. The views are stunning from the rooms, spa, and dining area. The apartment was spacious, with a large terrace and a well-equipped kitchen, and the breakfast and dinner were good. The spa was modern and excellent, with several saunas, including infrared and steam, and a lovely pool looking over the mountains. Service, especially from the owners, was disappointing. Waiting at reception was very long for check-in, check-out, ski tickets, or any request, so bring lots of patience. Snow and ice weren’t properly cleared from the entrance or parking lot, making things slippery and unsafe during heavy snowfall.

The lovely man at the bar went out of his way to make sure we were happy with food and drinks, and helped us get more towels and firewood. His customer service was great. We’ve been coming here from Australia for several years, but this holiday I was disappointed with how the front desk lady treated me when I asked to use the sauna. Every other visit, we used the sauna and spa centre as part of the booking. The website said it was included, and so did an email. Still, she insisted that because we were staying in an outside unit, all 14 of us would have to pay an extra 12 euros per person for each sauna visit. We’re here for five days, and she wouldn’t let me use it unless I paid, despite the email and website. It was frustrating that she didn’t try to sort it out and just walked away.

We stopped in for coffee, drinks, and a light brunch. The staff were kind, and the spot was pleasant, out in nature and away from a busy downtown. There’s also a very nice mineral museum as part of the hotel.

We had a great time with our family over the third weekend of December 2022. The hotel is in a fantastic spot at the end of the road, with lovely views over the valley. You can head straight out from the hotel onto Sölden’s wide slopes to start skiing, then ski back in the evening along a well-maintained route that takes you to just before the hotel. The food is excellent and well priced, and the servers are friendly and welcoming. I recommend it.

We had a great ski holiday at the end of the season. The valley views were lovely, the food was amazing, and the place was very clean and welcoming. I’d go again.
