Balázs was an amazing host. You can set off on hikes of any level right from the apartment, and the supermarket is a 5 minute walk away. I’ve stayed here twice in the summer because it’s such a quiet, clean and lovely spot. The sauna overlooking the mountains is a bonus. I’d definitely recommend it.

Balazs was a wonderful host. When he heard we’d got engaged that week, he even gave us a gift, such a thoughtful gesture. The staff were all really friendly, and we had an amazing stay. We’d happily recommend the apartment and its location, and hope to see everyone again on our next ski trip.

Michaela made the stay especially pleasant. She was always available, and on Sunday morning, when the supermarkets were closed, she quickly found milk for our children. We met her the morning after our late arrival, and her smile alone made the holiday feel better. Bravo Michaela! The apartment itself was much larger than we expected, with 2 big bedrooms, a kitchen, lovely balconies and 2 bathrooms. Everything was finished to a high modern standard. There was also a bottle of wine waiting for us, a welcome treat after a long trip. The kitchen had a good range of utensils, including an espresso maker and plenty of capsules. We’ve skied in Austria many times and stayed in various five-star hotels, but chose self catering here because the hotels’ 7 course gala dinners would have been wasted on our children. The location worked really well. It’s a steep walk down to the ski school, rental shop and main gondola, and hauling skis back up takes some effort, though you can think of it as training for your ski legs. There’s a ski and boot room beside the apartment. The transfer driver found the accommodation easily. We arrived after dark, and although nobody was at reception, our key cards and parking instructions were left in an envelope at the desk. We didn’t need the parking information. The steam room and sauna were clean, well kept and a standard size. The relaxation space is small, with room for only 2 or 3 people at once. I wish the sauna and steam room opened earlier in the day, perhaps after lunch, since the snow gets slushy in the afternoon and we wanted to use them then. Our children would also have liked access to the hotel swimming pool, perhaps that could be an option in the future. This is a luxurious, high standard apartment in a great location, a real champagne ski apartment. We’ll definitely be back next year.

For the past 5 years, we’ve kept coming back to this hotel in Obergurgel. We love the house, the views, the welcoming atmosphere and the comfort.
