The hotel's own little cable railway up to the ski lift is brilliant and very easy to use. Service was five-star, the food was excellent, and prices were sensible. A good place.

Getting to the slopes is wonderfully straightforward: from the ski room, we stepped into the snow cab and were at the piste within minutes. You can also come up for lunch as an outside guest, or ski back down a black run and walk across the road for a few minutes. After skiing, we liked relaxing in the bar and lounge or playing games after dinner. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced. Hotel Wurmkogel made us feel more than welcome as soon as we arrived, and we're already talking about when to return. Gurgl was a great ski experience on its own, but the hotel was the icing on the cake. The staff were all wonderful without pushing anything on us. We enjoyed the half pension, and dietary requests were no problem. The daily menu had wintery dishes, with a salad buffet that let us add vegetables. Breakfast was excellent too. Food was put out quite early in a warm, cosy setting, but it always tasted fresh. Our room, Edel in Weiss, was comfortable and just right for a week. Allergies were keeping us awake, and as soon as we mentioned it, they offered different non-down pillows. The wellness area got very busy in the evenings, so after a few days we found it quieter to wait until after 5:30 pm. Guests also ignored the signs about not reserving the relaxation beds and claimed all of them.

We've been coming for ten years and have loved the hotel and team since our first visit. The hotel is cosy and great for families, with a really friendly, capable staff. The skiing experience here is like nowhere else.

The setting is beautiful, and having the hotel's own snow cabin lift up to the slopes makes the location amazing. The decor is lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is really good. I've stayed at several five-star hotels, and this was better than some of them.
