Hotel Park

The beds squeaked, though they were otherwise comfortable and we slept well. The rooms had great views, and the staff and food were excellent. It’s an ideal base, a short walk from the town center and brewery. There’s no kettle in the room, but a self-service tea and coffee room downstairs. Ski and cycle hire are available, and the nearby gondola ride is a must, with more than one way to come back down.

Having a guest card made a big difference. We could travel around the region on local trains and buses for free, and entry to the local swimming pool was included. The hotel is well placed, less than five minutes from the cable car and within ten minutes of town and the train station. We stayed for a week in August and had a brilliant time. The staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a buffet, and dinner was four courses. We could also make packed lunches from the breakfast food, which was very helpful for hiking in the beautiful hills around St Johann. There was lots of information about local activities from the staff and at the front of the hotel.

The one thing I missed was having water with the afternoon soup, especially after a day skiing and feeling thirsty. Otherwise, the staff were great, the atmosphere was lovely, and the chef could adjust any dish for my food intolerance or offer an alternative. I felt it was no trouble at all. The welcome was warm and quick, and the rooms were comfortable and quiet. It’s five minutes on foot to the ski lift, two minutes to the hire shop, and about ten minutes to the town’s bars, restaurants, and shops. We came with a Crystal Holiday ski package. Can’t wait to return.

We booked at the last minute and were delighted with the choice. The room was spacious, had plenty of storage, and was cleaned daily. It got a bit warm at night without air conditioning, but they gave us a fan. The staff were very friendly, and the location is near the town and cable car station. Breakfast was a lovely buffet, and dinner offered three choices, with soup, salad, a main, and dessert. We had a car and found the surrounding area gorgeous. I think the hotel has 48 rooms and a capacity of about 100 people. I’d recommend it and stay again.
