A top spot.

The Ulseß family clearly puts a lot of care and love into this family-run hotel. Isabella and everyone in the family were warm, attentive, and ready to help, so we felt at home from the minute we arrived. We had a wonderful first stay at Birg 1414 during our ski holiday, and would love to come back. Many thanks to the Ulseß family for such a great visit, from Patrizia and Christian from Germany. After skiing, the spa area was a real treat, beautifully furnished and looking out to the mountains. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi on the outdoor terrace. There’s also a ski and boot room on the ground floor. The bus stop right at the foot of the house makes it easy to explore, with just one stop to the town center, or you can take a pleasant walk back along a hiking trail. Our double room was nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed and lots of wardrobe space. The bathroom had a roomy shower, and shower gel, soap, and a hairdryer were provided. I asked for a second pillow and got it straight away. The balcony had a table and two chairs, with a fantastic view of the snow-covered mountains. Breakfast was plentiful, with different breads and cakes each day, excellent coffee, and a range of teas and coffee drinks including espresso, cappuccino, and caffè latte. Hanni and Isabella were happy to make eggs to order and served them at the table. In the evening, the breakfast room can be used as a lounge, with games to play and drinks for sale in the fridge.

We felt welcome and comfortable from the first day at this lovely family-run guesthouse. The rooms are beautifully furnished, very clean, and have balconies where you can enjoy the magnificent view in the evening. Even though the house is on the main road, it's quiet at night. The bus stop right outside has good connections, and it’s an excellent base for hiking. We got helpful hiking tips and enjoyed chatting over breakfast. Even a little drizzle was fine with sturdy shoes and a rain jacket. Breakfast was fantastic, and the view was magnificent. A wonderful short break, and we'd be glad to come back.

We had a lovely stay in August, even though the weather wasn't perfect every day. We arrived later than expected and got a warm, friendly welcome. The owner showed us to our room and said we could take care of the paperwork the next day. The room was spotless, beautifully furnished, and just the right size, with a stunning view. The breakfast buffet was generous and varied. There was excellent mountain cheese, homemade honey, fresh bread and rolls, cold cuts, several cheeses, fresh vegetables, fruit, yogurt, fruit salad, cereal, and cake or sweet rolls. You could choose a coffee specialty at the machine, and ask for a boiled egg. The owner paid close attention to her guests and offered lots of ideas for things to do nearby. The location is excellent, and despite being on the main road it's quiet. Cars and motorcycles do pass now and then, but it isn't too bad. Parking at the hotel is free. I've said before that large hotels could learn a thing or two from small, privately run places.
