Gasthof Pension Steinberger

We spent a week at the Steinberger Pension at Attersee and had an absolutely awesome time. The area is beautiful, with lots of options for little or longer trips by car or on foot. Our room was clean, practical, big enough for a couple, and had a balcony; the bed was very comfortable too. Breakfast was a typical hotel spread with plenty of everything. Dinner was the highlight, a three-course meal with Austrian Knödel desserts or ice cream. The owner was a really nice guy, had a good sense of humor, and spoke English well. We enjoyed sitting outside in the garden with Zipfer beers and Weiße Spritzer. We'd definitely come again and recommend it. Thanks, Iva and Vojta from Prague, Czech Republic.

The food was delicious, and our room was clean and comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, with hiking and walking trails nearby.

Breakfast was just a plastic bag of bread rolls and a Tupperware box with a couple of meat slices, with no coffee. The owner was miserable. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

This isn't a wellness center, but for reasonable money it's a nice place to stay with meals, and a good base for cycling trips. Attersee is 4km away. The guesthouse is older, though everything feels honestly done; I'd compare it to a Mercedes w124 from 1994. The owner at reception was pleasant and spoke English, and there was a nice Thai woman in the kitchen who could cook. The hotel-style rooms had comfortable mattresses and classic bathrooms with showers. Everything was clean, and they cleaned our room during the trip just like at a hotel. Our room shared a large balcony with two others. Breakfast was okay: hard-boiled egg, cheese, salami, vegetables, homemade juice, tea or coffee, plus fresh pastries and bread. Dinner came with soup, a main course, and dessert. They have draft beer, but you can only pay in Cash. Bikes go in the back yard, which has no roof. The owner said it was safe, though we preferred to lock ours.
