Sonnleiten - Guggerhof - Villa Sonnenwies

We had loads of room in the family suite for all seven of us, and the mountain view from the big bathroom was a lovely bonus. The kitchen was well equipped, and the view from the apartment was magnificent. Our hostess was very friendly too. The apartment could do with some renovation in places: a few sockets were loose, cable ducts were exposed, and some plaster was crumbling. The fourth bedroom also felt a little bare. Still, it’s a great base for hikes, and you can step straight onto the cross-country ski trails. We only wish our week had been longer.

We love coming back here and always feel welcome. The owner is charming, and the whole place has such a pleasant, warm atmosphere. We make sure to get the delicious Kaiserschmarren and the valley’s best homemade mulled wine every year. Sitting on the new terrace in the sunshine, feeling completely at ease, is wonderful.

The prices are unbeatable, and the food is delicious. The service is very friendly, the owner is absolutely lovely, and the Aperol Spritz is fantastic. It’s the kind of place you want to keep coming back to, especially for the great sun terrace.

We were very happy with our dinners here, and the hosts were incredibly friendly. We ate at the restaurant twice. The meat from their own farm and the other dishes were delicious, and the chef deserves a big compliment. There’s a changing menu each evening, with the option to skip courses or just order a main. They’ll also prepare special meals for children if asked. Breakfast, if you book it, is served from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the main building restaurant. There’s a generous selection: bread, jam, butter, homemade yogurt, spring water from the farm, fresh-cut fruit, muesli, cornflakes, cakes, rolls, cold cuts, cheeses and ham, plus freshly made breakfast or scrambled eggs on request. It was our first visit to Tannheim, and we spent four lovely days in a spacious, cozy apartment above the barn. It was bright, had plenty of storage, a well-equipped kitchen and a magnificent mountain view. You can set out from here for hikes, bike rides, ski slopes and other excursions. We felt very comfortable and would love to return.
