That balcony view of the mountain was incredible, and the Krampuslauf was fun to watch just a short walk away. The room was warm and lovely, with everything we needed and a really comfortable bed. The owners were kind and helpful too. Tarrenz is a small place, though Imst is nearby for shops and restaurants. We loved staying here.

We had a lovely week at Salvesenheim with our two dogs. We’re an older couple, and both we and the dogs felt very comfortable there. Mr. Baumann greeted us warmly, explained everything we needed to know, and gave us recommendations that suited our interests so well. Thanks to his tips, we saw some special spots in the region that we might otherwise have missed. The “Schwalbennest” apartment was well equipped, and we didn’t lack for anything. Its balcony was our favorite part: it was a wonderful place to sit in any weather, enjoy the view, and listen to the bubbling stream. We could also start a nice dog walk right from Salvesenheim, down to the stream and sometimes onward to nearby Happis Hütte, where we had a tasty dumpling soup. We hiked through Salvesenschlucht and to Rosengarten, and took the mountain lifts up to the local huts. We also drove to the Rettenbachgletscher and Tiefenbachgletscher, reaching the highest road point in Europe. On the way, we had a lovely walk to Stuibenfall, Tirol’s highest waterfall, with a 159m drop. The “Urlaubs(s)pass”, advertised as “Das Extra in der Ferienregion Imst”, was a great bonus. The host gave it to us for free, and it came with some unexpected perks. We especially appreciated one free return trip on the Imster Bergbahnen each day, which saved us a lot of money. We could also visit Knappenwelt for free with the pass. We often stopped at the local farm shop, which was an easy walk, and dropped into Weinhaus Flür, a lovely little self-service wine garden just around the corner. Tarrenz had more going on than we expected. On the afternoon we arrived, we were able to go to the annual church festival, with a brass band and traditional costume groups. It gave us a glimpse of local club life, and there was good food too. We liked it so much that we’d be happy to return next year to Familie Baumann at Salvesenheim. These are charming apartments on the edge of Tarrenz. The hosts were so kind and pointed us toward interesting places to see. When we checked in, we got vouchers for free or discounted entry to nearby attractions, including the Imst cable car and toboggan run for free.

The Schwalbennest apartment was clean, comfortably furnished, and had everything we needed for a few active vacation days. Our host welcomed us warmly and gave us plenty of ideas for things to do around Tarrenz and Imst on the first day. There’s a small farm shop with excellent local products about a five-minute walk away. We came to climb, and Geierwand is only 20 minutes away, with several other climbing areas even closer.

We kept enjoying the mountain view from the balcony, and there’s a nearby spring where you can drink fresh water from the mountains. Mr. Baumann welcomed us when we arrived and talked us through what there was to see and do locally. The apartment was spotless and fully equipped, with good beds and a bathroom with a good shower. It’s close to Imst, where there’s plenty to see. Mr. Baumann came by to say goodbye in person the day before we left. We’ll definitely return.
