Chalet Guter Hirte

We stayed in Hinterglemm last February, and the service was awful. The landlord is keeping our deposit and has stopped replying to messages, emails, and calls. It’s disgraceful. Once they had the money, they ignored us completely, and they’re taking no responsibility. We’re still waiting to get our money back. This honestly feels like a scam. Don’t book unless you’re prepared to risk losing your deposit and being ignored.

We spent a week here over Christmas and couldn’t fault the chalet. It was comfortable, clean, spacious, and well equipped, with great views and a spot almost next to the Reiterkogelbahn in Hinterglemm. Some older reviews mentioned too little kitchen equipment, but that seems to have been sorted: there are huge fridges and freezers, two ovens, two dishwashers, loads of crockery and cutlery, and plenty of kitchen gear. We’d definitely come back.

We had a bad experience with the service. The dishonest, unprofessional behavior was unacceptable, and I’d urge other renters to be very careful. I wouldn’t recommend this apartment.

We had the upper apartment at Chalet Guter Hirte for the weekend. It was roomy enough for nine, and there was space for three more; the living area would easily suit twelve. The balconies on both levels look out over the mountains. What let it down, and cost it a star, was the lack of soap and basic everyday things. The listing didn’t mention that you’d need to bring everything yourself, including soap, salt, and sugar. At the relatively high price, I’d expected those basics to be there.
