Pension Almhof

We loved our stay at Almhof. The rooms were clean, quiet, and tidy, and the price was very reasonable. Marco & Hilda were caring, thoughtful, and probably the friendliest hotel owners in the region.

We were very happy there, and anyone looking for a quiet, cozy, and super clean place should be pleased. It's still close to the village and city centers, and you can walk around in socks. Pension Almhof shows how passion and professionalism can go together with very friendly owners. We stayed a few nights during this year's school winter break and got a warm welcome even though we arrived later in the day. Breakfast was very good, with a different interesting story on the table each day, about life and the world, and good for kids to read too. The sauna was amazing, and having it just for ourselves made it especially comfortable. It was a really good experience, well worth trying!

We were traveling around Europe on our motorcycles, and Pension Almhof Verditz- Afritz am see was very biker friendly. Ester and Alfred were such a big part of what made the stay great. They're a husband and wife team, very welcoming and accommodating, and speak good English. We shared travel stories over a few beers, and they were a lot of fun. When my bike had trouble, they let us stay well past checkout while we sorted it out, and brought us coffee and useful advice about where to go next. Their terrier Jenna is adorable and loves people and cuddles. The pension sits on a hillside among wide open countryside, rivers, and forests. It felt remote, but was fairly easy to find with GPS. There's a lovely garden with plenty of tables and chairs, a wood stove, and giant Connect Four. I saw two very competitive friends having an intense game one morning. Inside, the reception and dining and bar area were spotless and had a homely feel. The decor is traditional, and the owners plan to modernize it gradually. Our bedrooms were immaculate, spacious, comfortable, and well kept, with ensuite bathrooms, fresh towels, and remarkable views. The Wi-Fi worked well in the rooms and throughout the place. I highly recommend staying here and can't wait to come back. Thanks for an amazing stay!

The owners are lovely and always ready to help, and breakfast is delicious. It's a beautiful pension with a great view over the valley.
