The food and drinks were excellent, and the service was great.

The four-course dinner was superb, with good schnapps to enjoy along the way, and the price was very reasonable. Service was spot on, with hardly any waiting. Breakfast was good, the rooms were lovely and clean, and the hosts were exceptionally friendly and fun. I can only say I had a wonderful time at the Alpenrose. Highly recommended!

The Kaiserschmarren was the standout, with caramelized edges, a great texture, no oily feel, and generous toppings: applesauce, redcurrant jam, plum compote and vanilla ice cream. The apple strudel was delicious too, as was the espresso, served in a warmed cup with a glass of water. We stopped in for lunch after a hike in July 2025. The kitchen opens at noon, but they let us sit down for a drink before then. The staff were very friendly and cheerful. One downside is that they only take cash, not credit cards, though the very friendly staff offered to transfer the amount to me. I'd definitely come back. Five out of five stars.
