Hotel Kirchlerhof

Apart from the food issue, it was a nice, quiet hotel with rooms up to standard and a great sauna area. But if you have food allergies or other dietary problems, it can be a real problem. I called ahead to ask whether they knew how to handle celiac disease, yet during our week there I had to ask the waiters every evening about gluten in each of the 3 courses. It often turned into a discussion because they didn’t seem to know either. That’s why I called in advance.

We booked half board, and dinner was the weak point. The portions were huge, which was nice, but the food didn’t seem to be made with fresh ingredients. A few dishes were very good, while most were too salty. Still, we love this hotel and plan to bring our family back ❤️ The spa area was large and clean, and breakfast was amazing. We stayed 4 nights in autumn, when it wasn’t too busy. Our room was newly renovated and very clean, with soft beds and fresh, soft sheets. The bathroom was small but clean and newly renovated too. The balcony had a nice mountain view, though it was connected to the other rooms. The location was great, close to the bus stop and a small supermarket within walking distance.

For skiing in Tux, the location is great. The price felt fair for what you get.

We came for dinner, and the soups were delicious, though the rest of the food was just so-so. The staff seemed to lack management, perhaps because of corona. The Balkan staff were friendly, but our waiter smelled of cigarette smoke and had trouble understanding our order. It all felt rather chaotic.
