Gruebe-Hof

We really enjoyed our stay at Gruebe hof this week, especially the fresh products at breakfast. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the hostess was one of a kind. They couldn’t be friendlier. Thanks so much, and until next time!

Disappointing! When we got to Niederthai, we weren’t even sure we had the right place. There was no house number, sign, or name on the facade, and it was dark everywhere. We called the owner, who confirmed we were in the right spot. Her husband arrived by car a few minutes later and showed us our room. The room was on the first floor, with only a bed, bedside tables, and a closet. There was plenty of space, but no chairs or table, so all our bags and other things had to stay on the floor. There was a flat-screen TV, but it only had free-to-air channels, not even the local ORF ones. The WLAN worked fine in the house. It was cold and smelled bad when we arrived. The heater was somewhat warm, but never enough to heat the room through the night. The bathroom had no towel hanger, no place for shower gel or shampoo in the shower, and, of course, no soap. Before 6 o’clock in the morning, a fairly loud noise came from the back of the house, probably from some machine. When we asked for the “Niederthai Card,” the host asked what we needed it for with winter season almost over. Breakfast was OK, but we only got two small pastries. The owner took 87€ including local tax, said goodbye, and reminded us twice not to forget to shut the entrance door when leaving.

The trek points were varied and close by, and the view was breathtaking. Our apartment was huge, clean, and beautiful, and the owner was so nice, friendly, and welcoming. We nearly cried when it was time to leave. Such a great experience, we’ll just have to wait until next time!
