The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good, and the room was spacious.

The playground for kids is a nice touch, and the place itself is very nice. But I was disappointed by the prices: an americano coffee was 5,10€, and a small glass of water cost 1€. Coffee ends up costing more than beer, and going from a coffee to an americano means paying 2,50€ for water. Really disappointing.

Both the adults and the kids enjoyed the delicious local food, which was good quality and well prepared. The children’s desserts came in a fun dish, but I won’t spoil the surprise. Service was friendly and efficient, and the drinks menu was lovely too. We had a nice cocktail before dinner and some beautiful wines by the glass with our meal. We had a very enjoyable family dinner, and I’m very happy to recommend this place.

The kids loved the food, and so did we. The menu has everything from basic Austrian favorites and pizza to dishes that are a bit out of the ordinary. We went a few times, and the food was great on every visit. The staff were kind and customer oriented each time. There’s a big garden where kids can play, and the atmosphere is nice. It’s in the middle of the village center, but it still isn’t loud. A great place to stay and eat in Unken.

Unken is a great base for enjoying the Austrian countryside, with Salzburg and Berchtesgaden close enough to visit. The hotel sits in the Austrian Alps, a short drive from Germany, and feels nicely removed from busy cities. We enjoyed the views and the people, as well as the spacious rooms, courteous staff, and great restaurant.
