Hotel Maiensee

We’ve been here twice and loved both stays. It’s a welcoming family-run place, with roomy, elegant rooms. The staff are kind, professional, and attentive, and every meal feels thoughtfully prepared. It’s a great fit for families, and we’ll be back.

We've made the Maiensee our winter getaway every year since 2010, and the location, stylish rooms, and magnificent views are a big part of why. The staff are amazing too. By some distance, it’s the best hotel in the Arlberg. “Far away from everyday,” as the brochure puts it.

Our family holiday is now in jeopardy, and we’re significantly out of pocket, because the hotel cancelled our New Year room booking, saying they were overbooked. We booked six months ahead and paid in full two months ago, but apparently that still didn't secure the room. We're stressed and devastated, with a family of five potentially left without a holiday during one of the busiest times of ski season. If you’re hoping for a stress-free break, be careful. You may not get one if you book this hotel.

Our group of six had dinner there during the stay. The menu changed every day, with different choices, including original dishes and what I’d call classic Austrian food. Breakfast was a great buffet of fresh products, with something for everyone. The service was super friendly and very tidy, and tables were cleared quickly. We were staying in a building separate from the main hotel, about a seven-minute walk uphill, which was fine. Check-in was handled neatly, and we could get into our room even though we arrived at 9 in the morning. The hotel Maiensee made for a wonderful holiday. Its location is right on the slopes beside the ski lift. We didn't use the spa. There was plenty of parking, even for our Volkswagen Transporter bus.
