Gasthof Zur Post

Even after five weeks, we still weren’t bored with all the activities on offer, from the views and pony rides to fishing, the trampoline, petting farm, waterfall, and several food outlets. Family Kohlmayr were incredibly attentive and helped with everything, and it really felt like a family run hotel, with the whole family around the large property looking after guests. The breakfast and dinner buffets were fantastic, with lots of choice and great quality. Each morning’s little in-house newspaper had the weather, greetings for arriving guests, and goodbyes to those leaving, which was a lovely personal touch. There were also weekly bonfires, hikes, wine tasting, and activities for kids. Our apartment was modern but cozy, with everything needed for a short or long stay. We felt very comfortable, relaxed, and well cared for during our wonderful five-week stay. See you next year, dear Family Kohlmayr! Family Sader/Masch (kids 1&3)

This was our second visit to Family Kohlmyr’s “Hotel zur Post”, and we booked 11 days because we loved the hotel, the family, the food, and the scenery so much. The whole family and staff are super friendly and take time to chat, so you feel very welcome. We had another lovely large room with a nice bed, modern bathroom, and separate toilet. On rainy days we made good use of the beautifully designed sauna area, with four different modern saunas and a nice relaxation space. The food was just as amazing as last time: elk hunted by Frau Kohlmyr :-), Forelle from their own lake, and beef from their free roaming cows at Tauernkar Alm. There’s plenty to explore nearby, including great hiking trails and cute Alm farmhouses where you can enjoy traditional “Jause” with delicious cured meats, local cheese, vegetables, and often home baked bread. Tonight we’re off to Tauernkar Alm for a grill evening. We were lucky to attend it last year and it was amazing. The weather is beautiful today, so it should be a great day. Tomorrow our 11 days are over, but if we can, we’ll definitely come back next year! Best wishes, and thanks again to Family Kohlmyr and team. The room was quiet and very clean, and both supper and breakfast were excellent. The staff were professional and friendly. I’d stopped for one night because I was cold and wet after riding my motorcycle in the rain in June 2018, but the stay was so pleasant and reasonably priced that I decided to stay a second night.

We stopped for lunch and it was awesome: delicious food, a beautiful setting, and very nice, quick service. There’s also a mini zoo across the road, making this a relaxing must-stop break when traveling around. Strongly recommended! :)
